Prepare yourself for an AWESOME Blueberry Pie. This is not to be confused with commercial overly sweet goop... but a fine, home-style, real Maine Blueberry Pie... combine it with a scoop of Vanilla and you will be savoring this combo, with tears in your eyes as you finish your last bite. Is it wrong for an adult middle aged man to eat pie for dinner? [Thus enabling the consumption of TWO slices!?] And then there's the cookies.... as big as your head and wonderfully balanced... again not overly sweet, but packed with flavor. Oatmeal chocolate Chip!!! [sounds healthy - can I call it 'breakfast'?] And it is all served up with an informal good cheer from the husband & wife owners... with their daughters sometimes in the house too... Perfect place to eat & treat on vacation... We visit SouthWest Harbor each June... and my first stop is Blueberry Pie @ Quiestside.

Great place-- Location puts it far enough away from the cruise ship terminal so you don't get all the (literally) boatloads of tourists. Staff are super friendly, especially the owners who made a point to say hello even though we were clearly visiting. Food was fantastic - I had the minestrone soup and my partner had the fish and chips. Fish and chips had a bit more breading than we normally like but was still tasty. Blueberry pie and ice cream were delicious. Price is on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of operation, but still competitive. Remember most all of these places are seasonal and only have a finite period of time to make all their money for the year!

Stopped in for ice cream for the kids. When I asked if they had kiddie size, she said, "we have small and large". Of course, I ordered the small. I later realized that they DO have kiddie size, so I have no idea what she was talking about. It was an extra $1 per ice cream, which wasn't very good.

I've been here on two separate occasions and I'll mention the good and the bad. the good: the pies and other baked items are great here! we had the pleasure of trying the apple pie with vanilla ice cream and we all loved it even though we are not fans of apple pie. Their chowders are also delicious. the bad: the burgers here are not fresh, and they are not good at all. I could hardly eat a few bites. I suggest opting for a sandwich or seafood basket. On another note, I had the same waitress on both visits. The first time she was nice and the second time, she was quite rude. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it left a sour note. Overall, this is a good place to stop for a snack. Just avoid the burgers!

it's confusing to know whether there is table service outside [there is]. we waited for a bit and then went inside to check. the man we assume to be the owner [who was eating at the counter] said yes, there was and we should go back outside. we resumed our seats outside. it took awhile but we attracted the attention of the waitress and ordered drinks and received menus. the waitress finally returned and we ordered. our drinks eventually came with our pizza, which was surprisingly good. i can't really fault the waitress as the operation seems to be lacking direction in general.

We ended up here on a Monday night because half the restaurants in SW Harbor were closed on Mondays and the other half were closed by 7 (slight exaggeration, but only slightly). It was pretty busy, probably because there was no place else to go, but we got one of the last remaining tables. The menu had a wide range of food from pizza to sandwiches to seafood. I got the grilled cheese and it came with chips and a pickle. I also ordered the fish chowder, which was not that good. I could only get down about half. The apple pie looked pretty amazing, but was just OK. My main problem with the place was the slow, slow service. I understand that it was busy and right before closing time, but it's still a small place so there's no reason anyone should be waiting so long to get their check. Slow service + mediocre food + flies buzzing around = go somewhere else.

Cool little friendly place. We had the greek pizza which was very good. We returned later during the week and I had France's key lime pie which was delicious, too bad theree was only 1 piece left! The owner told me that his wife, France, does one with a chocolate crust and that it is even better! All the desserts look yummy!

Year in, year out, this place is fantastic! Whenever we're on the island, we head to Southwest Harbor to get our fill of Lobster Rolls, Seafood Pizza (sounds odd, but is actually very tasty) and ice-cream. It can be quite busy, but I think that's because it is so good. It's quite charming inside, which makes up for the fact that it's small and can get crowded. But they have picnic tables outside, and sometimes we even just order our food to go and take it with us. Frances and Ralph (owners) are usually there and couldn't be more friendly. Frances makes her pies daily. My favorite is the blueberry. Although recently she made a key lime pie with a chocolate crust. Sounds odd, but I loved it.

Lobster rolls were fresh and they used the whole lobster. The roll didn't have a lot of seasoning so all you tasted was fresh lobster and paprika. The clam chowder and cole slaw side were terrific. Brownie a la mode was yummy. Brownie was not too sweet and was 4 inches tall! Blueberry and rasberry flavored ice creams were delicious!

Awesome little place. This was our last stop on the way home out of Mount Desert Island and it was a great way to end our vacation. We had the fried scallops, lobster roll, Maine wild blueberry ice cream, and a piece of their apple pie. Everything was delicious, local and homemade (except maybe the ice cream, but it was delicious nonetheless). The ambience is bustling, casual, friendly and welcoming.

Went here with the kids and ended up having to finish two lobster rolls so they would not go to waste. Its a Great ice cream place with a nice family story but. " just say no" to the lobster rolls unless you like cold lobster salad-type rolls. The only lobster roll should be a naked lobster roll - fresh out of the shell warm lobster with melted butter... stick to the ice cream.

Every little town in Maine seems to have its own shop with home-made ice cream and Southwest Harbor is no exception. My companion and I both enjoyed our ice cream choices, mine toasted coconut and hers "moose track" (vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter). I wished that they had a few more of the creative, unusual flavors of ice cream that one sees in some other shops. I kept eyeing the blueberry pie on the counter--locally made, unbelievably thick, and bursting with wild blueberries. It looked so good that I was tempted to have a piece, but I was in the mood for ice cream that day.

We stopped by twice this week, once for lunch and once for breakfast; note not open for breakfast so we had an early lunch. Had fish/chips, fish chowder, lobster stew, crab cakes and turkey melt. Fish chowder was generously full of haddock, but it need salt/pepper, paprika or Tabasco would have been better. Lobster stew was awesome, again full of lobster and a hint of heat; sheet would be a great touch too. Crab cakes were great, ask for more sauce! Fish/chips were awesome too! Can't seem to go wrong with any choice!

MORE THAN JUST ICE CREAM The menu is not large, but I found the hamburger to be really good--a handmade burger (not one of those pre-made frozen patties, which I was expecting) on a nice bun, with good fries and cole slaw. It was all made to order and reasonably priced: $7.95. Finish it off with some ice cream, of which there are many good flavors to choose from. Friendly service too.

Small little shop on the main strip. Owned by a very nice family the cares about their customers and their shop. Nothing fancy just well done food and desserts. Had the Lobster Roll. Lobster was fresh from the dock down the road, perfectly done, large portion, simple and tasty with a little lettuce for crunch. I recommend a sweet treat too... cookie or pie it all looked so good. Shared a slice of key lime. Perfect for spring, creamy, thick curd that wasn't too sour. Stop at this cafe if you are in the Bar Harbor area.

We spent a week in Southwest Harbor and this was our favorite place to eat on Mount Desert Island. LOVED the owners, loved the food, and loved the atmosphere. The Lobster Roll was greatness, the Blueberry and Apple Pies were fantastic ... but the Key Lime Pie was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I can't wait to go back to SW Harbor and spend more time at the Quietside Cafe. If I lived close by I would be there every day.

Lovely old fashioned ice cream parlor with the whole story up on the wall through pictures of the family. I think that adds to the quietside charm and romance. I enjoyed the blueberry pie because the crust was flakey and thin and the blueberries were stuffed in there and were juicy. Ala mode was just the way to have all desserts. I love ice cream.

What a small town cafe/ice cream shop should strive to be. Quick service, good food and friendly staff. Small but kid friendly. Owner keeps watchful eye and ensures things move quickly. Outside service can be tough call on busy night. Order inside (or at window) then pick up or just eat inside without mosquitos. Nothing better than their ice cream after long day of hiking/biking/swimming on MDI.

I was on Mount Desert Island last weekend, October 21, 2011, with my daughter and her friend. We had a long drive to get there, then hiked and I was very tired and hungry. We were staying at a local B&B and they said to go here for food. We ordered take out and I got a mushroom, pepperoni and onion pizza that was to die for. I've had hundreds of take out pizzas from all over and it came close to the BEST ever. The best pizza I had was from a place called Zino's in Cincinnati, OH. But it burned to the ground back in the 1980's and they never rebuilt. I would have bought the recipe for their sauce had I known they were not rebuilding. But I digress. If you LOVE pizza, you MUST come to the Quietside Cafe. The leftovers were eaten the next night. I heated them up with the hair dryer from the B&B. The pizza was still delicious. No hair got in it from the dryer in case you wondered.

Just spent 4 days in SWH, and 2 out f the four we ate at Quiet Side. We Loved it. And we're very happy to meet Frances the owner. She greeted us the first night with "joining us for supper?", I liked her immediately. My friend had the clam chowder and I had chili, with cheese and onions on top. Both were delicious BUT we took home with us 2 pieces of the blueberry pie. My My Blueberry Pie. It was made with the little Maine Blueberries and it was stuffed with them. I don't think we would have went here otherwise, but they had lowered price lobster rolls so we figured why the heck not? This place doesn't really know what it wants to be....pizza, bakery, ice cream, seafood. Very confusing and how can I trust a place to be awesome at so many different styles. The lobster rolls were lowered price for a reason. I mean, we were on Mt. Desert Island - I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a better lobster roll ANYWHERE else. While I was waiting for the food at the counter, the cookies, cakes, and pies did catch my attention. While ruffling through my wallet for some cash to get some cookies (had to try something), a little boy sat down and started coughing all over the uncovered, out-in-the-open baked goods. I put my money away. Then another little kid came up and had her hands all over the cookies - her parents told her to stop, but the cookies were put back and nothing was said. After that I felt weird about eating the food, but I was starving. Anyway, three stars because we wanted to support the local and I feel that's important - but that's about it.

On the drive to the lighthouse down the road my mom and I needed some tea and we needed some ice cream. BUT we walked in the restaurant the crowd parted and in front of me was the most gorgeous apple pie EVER! We got a slice that weighed probably five pounds and orgasmed the whole time. It was filled with crisp sweet apples and a sweet filling. The crust was doughy but flaky and i wanted more. BUT the best part about it was that there was oatmeal and nuts on the top covered in a caramel drizzle. I can't emphasize enough that if you ever see this TRY IT!!! Oh ya the ice cream was good!

Stopped by here because my boyfriend wanted ice-cream and we had heard good things. He didn't mind the strawberry ice-cream, but their blueberry pie was the most awful pie I've ever had in my entire life. And I've had a lot of pies! The blueberries were far from ripe, the filling was bland, and the crust represented a texture similar to rubber (and I imagine a taste as well). It would have been fine had the girl ringing me up actually not charged me for the slice, after I had given it back to her with only one bite missing saying it was awful. I told her I didn't think it would be fair for me to pay, since it was so terrible I couldn't even stomach eating it. She refused and insisted that I paid. We were staying at a local B&B across the street over Memorial Day weekend and were looking for something local, and the B&B owners recommended Quietside Cafe. It's a fantastic, family atmosphere place with a lot of food, pizza, chowder, ice cream, etc options. There was a family of five sharing a pizza, and locals in and out of the place. We ordered a "Loaded" Pizza which was great, as well as crab cakes which were also delicious. The blueberry pie was quintessential Maine blueberry pie. There were other pies on display and I'll be going back for more sometime soon.

This little cafe in Southwest Harbor has a real family feel. It's not much to look at inside, but the food is really great. They're definitely known for their pies, which look fantastic. The slices of blueberry pie are huge, and definitely something to have a la mode! The do offer the usual food items: pizza, burgers, fries, sandwiches. I've had grilled cheese and found it to be satisfying. It's not expensive, either, so worth it if you're looking for a quick food fix in a friendly atmosphere.

WE LOVE QUIETSIDE AND RALPH AND FRANCIS!!! we live in Florida and come up to SW Harbor every year and never miss a meal at least one time there. It is your old fashioned ice cream parlor and great comfort food with a twist. Francis makes a mean lobster chowder, incredible pizza and the most amazing blueberry pie. Don't miss it, the prices are great, it's down home Main'ah food from a very awesome family owned place.

You come to Maine, you expect two things: great lobster and great blueberry pie. And the Serbian guy behind the counter really sold us on this great blueberry pie they had. We were really excited, so we got a slice to go (they're big slices). But the disappointment hit hard when we took the first (and last) bite: nothing about it was right - the dough was raw in places and it had no sweetness - not the berries and not the crust. Blueberries are not yet in season, so I imagine they has to use frozen or imported berries, but if fruit isn't sweet, you can always add a little sugar to sweeten it up and macerate them a bit. I hope this was just a fluke - maybe the pie was made by a new person, maybe they just forgot to add the sugar to the recipe, maybe they didn't bake it as long as they should have.

Cute little diner near a lot of the shops in the town. We stopped in for macaroons. They were AMAZING. Very good size, large in fact. Tasted very fresh and delicious. I would try to get those things shipped to Chicago if I can.

SW Harbor is what a quaint summer town should be like. Bar Harbor is a nightmare tourist trap, catering to day travelers and people getting off cruise ships. SW Harbor is more for people who spend their entire summers on MT Desert Island. Quietside is great. Nice menu. Great desserts. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. There are five picnic tables with table service to the right of the building. They allow dogs (dog friendly). We got the lobster pizza - strangely the only place on MT Desert Island I found that served it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest. The crust was pretty weak, and I am not sure they even have a pizza oven. It tasted more like pre-made oven baked. However, it was topped with tons of lobster drenched in butter. Strangely, it was called a white pizza but they added pizza sauce, and that detracted from it. I would have preferred it just be lobster, butter, garlic and cheese. Nevertheless, if you just ate the toppings, it was five stars. But as a pizza, I'd give it 3 stars and doubt I would get it again. The chowder tasted average. Big fresh chunks of fish but a little watery and flavorless. The sandwiches looked a bit slight. They were out of blueberry pie (which looked amazing when we saw them), but they had apple pie (with granola and caramel for the topping instead of crust). This was excellent. Unfortunately, they didn't heat it up enough for us. It seemed like they tried but didn't microwave it long enough (?) so the ice cream didn't really melt. Nevertheless, it was so good it didn't matter. Let's just say it was excellent, but if heated up, it could have been up there with best ever. Clearly baked fresh daily or baked nearby. All told, the food was good enough. The atmosphere of both the restaurant and the town were very nice, and the fact they were dog friendly put it over the top. If we lived in SW Harbor, this would be a very regular spot of ours - definitely for pie every night at least.

We went to Quietside hoping for a good dessert pick me up after a bit a disappointment from Thurston's. I got a brownie a la mode, my girlfriend got the blueberry pie. The brownie was fine, if uninspired and the blueberry pie was good. Nice crust, good flavor. Staff was friendly.

We were driving around Mount Desert and wanted to get some dinner, but everything was shut down (we were there a few days before Halloween). MDI basically shuts down all their shops after Columbus Day, so we had a hard time trying to find a place for dinner. Luckily, Quietside was still open. We ordered lobster stew, lobster roll, and a slice of blueberry pie. We were very, very happy with the lobster stew. There was a ton of delicious, tasty lobster in a creamy broth. The highlight was the homemade blueberry pie. The sky-high slice was bursting with blueberries. If you ever happen to be on this side of the island, Make Quietside one of your destinations for delicious food!

Prepare yourself for an AWESOME Blueberry Pie. This is not to be confused with commercial overly sweet goop... but a fine, home-style, real Maine Blueberry Pie... combine it with a scoop of Vanilla and you will be savoring this combo, with tears in your eyes as you finish your last bite. Is it wrong for an adult middle aged man to eat pie for dinner? [Thus enabling the consumption of TWO slices!?] And then there's the cookies.... as big as your head and wonderfully balanced... again not overly sweet, but packed with flavor. Oatmeal chocolate Chip!!! [sounds healthy - can I call it 'breakfast'?] And it is all served up with an informal good cheer from the husband & wife owners... with their daughters sometimes in the house too... Perfect place to eat & treat on vacation... We visit SouthWest Harbor each June... and my first stop is Blueberry Pie @ Quiestside.

Great place-- Location puts it far enough away from the cruise ship terminal so you don't get all the (literally) boatloads of tourists. Staff are super friendly, especially the owners who made a point to say hello even though we were clearly visiting. Food was fantastic - I had the minestrone soup and my partner had the fish and chips. Fish and chips had a bit more breading than we normally like but was still tasty. Blueberry pie and ice cream were delicious. Price is on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of operation, but still competitive. Remember most all of these places are seasonal and only have a finite period of time to make all their money for the year!

Every little town in Maine seems to have its own shop with home-made ice cream and Southwest Harbor is no exception. My companion and I both enjoyed our ice cream choices, mine toasted coconut and hers "moose track" (vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter). I wished that they had a few more of the creative, unusual flavors of ice cream that one sees in some other shops. I kept eyeing the blueberry pie on the counter--locally made, unbelievably thick, and bursting with wild blueberries. It looked so good that I was tempted to have a piece, but I was in the mood for ice cream that day.

We stopped by twice this week, once for lunch and once for breakfast; note not open for breakfast so we had an early lunch. Had fish/chips, fish chowder, lobster stew, crab cakes and turkey melt. Fish chowder was generously full of haddock, but it need salt/pepper, paprika or Tabasco would have been better. Lobster stew was awesome, again full of lobster and a hint of heat; sheet would be a great touch too. Crab cakes were great, ask for more sauce! Fish/chips were awesome too! We spent a week in Southwest Harbor and this was our favorite place to eat on Mount Desert Island. LOVED the owners, loved the food, and loved the atmosphere. The Lobster Roll was greatness, the Blueberry and Apple Pies were fantastic ... but the Key Lime Pie was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I can't wait to go back to SW Harbor and spend more time at the Quietside Cafe. If I lived close by I would be there every day.

I don't think we would have went here otherwise, but they had lowered price lobster rolls so we figured why the heck not? This place doesn't really know what it wants to be....pizza, bakery, ice cream, seafood. Very confusing and how can I trust a place to be awesome at so many different styles. The lobster rolls were lowered price for a reason. I mean, we were on Mt. Desert Island - I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a better lobster roll ANYWHERE else. While I was waiting for the food at the counter, the cookies, cakes, and pies did catch my attention. While ruffling through my wallet for some cash to get some cookies (had to try something), a little boy sat down and started coughing all over the uncovered, out-in-the-open baked goods. I put my money away. Then another little kid came up and had her hands all over the cookies - her parents told her to stop, but the cookies were put back and nothing was said. After that I felt weird about eating the food, but I was starving. Anyway, three stars because we wanted to support the local and I feel that's important - but that's about it.

Outside, a sign boasts the "best pie in Maine." Challenge. Accepted. We popped in, and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and tomato and cheese, for lunch. It comes with your choice of bread, as well as a delightful pickle and chips. Very satisfying. Hubs got the current special -- popcorn shrimp with fries. He was also pleased. But of course, we were really there for the dessert. I got a slice of blueberry pie. You need only look at my pics to know how it was. (Go on; I'm waiting...) I also got a slice of key lime pie -- with chocolate crust. What?! These pies changed my pastry world, as I know it. Do as we did, and grab lunch to go, then eat by the Seawall and take in the gorgeous scenery.

My mom and I discovered this place on one of our trips to Maine a few years ago. The hot dogs there are delicious. The space feels like you're having lunch in someone's kitchen - it has that cozy Down East vibe that I love. The cool part is you can draw on a dollar bill (as long as it's appropriate of course) and hang it up. Mine says MAINEAC AT HEART. Also it wasn't crowded when we went there, which was nice. Check this place out when you're driving through Southwest Harbor. It's definitely worth the trip.

Outside service can be tough call on busy night. Order inside (or at window) then pick up or just eat inside without mosquitos. Nothing better than their ice cream after long day of hiking/biking/swimming on MDI.

I was on Mount Desert Island last weekend, October 21, 2011, with my daughter and her friend. We had a long drive to get there, then hiked and I was very tired and hungry. We were staying at a local B&B and they said to go here for food. We ordered take out and I got a mushroom, pepperoni and onion pizza that was to die for. I've had hundreds of take out pizzas from all over and it came close to the BEST ever. The best pizza I had was from a place called Zino's in Cincinnati, OH. But it burned to the ground back in the 1980's and they never rebuilt. I would have bought the recipe for their sauce had I known they were not rebuilding. But I digress. If you LOVE pizza, you MUST come to the Quietside Cafe. The leftovers were eaten the next night. I heated them up with the hair dryer from the B&B. The pizza was still delicious. No hair got in it from the dryer in case you wondered.

Just spent 4 days in SWH, and 2 out f the four we ate at Quiet Side. We Loved it. And we're very happy to meet Frances the owner. She greeted us the first night with "joining us for supper?", I liked her immediately. My friend had the clam chowder and I had chili, with cheese and onions on top. Both were delicious BUT we took home with us 2 pieces of the blueberry pie. My My Blueberry Pie. It was made with the little Maine Blueberries and it was stuffed with them. Year in, year out, this place is fantastic! Whenever we're on the island, we head to Southwest Harbor to get our fill of Lobster Rolls, Seafood Pizza (sounds odd, but is actually very tasty) and ice-cream. It can be quite busy, but I think that's because it is so good. It's quite charming inside, which makes up for the fact that it's small and can get crowded. But they have picnic tables outside, and sometimes we even just order our food to go and take it with us. Frances and Ralph (owners) are usually there and couldn't be more friendly. Frances makes her pies daily. My favorite is the blueberry. Although recently she made a key lime pie with a chocolate crust. Sounds odd, but I loved it.

Lobster rolls were fresh and they used the whole lobster. The roll didn't have a lot of seasoning so all you tasted was fresh lobster and paprika. The clam chowder and cole slaw side were terrific. Awesome little place. This was our last stop on the way home out of Mount Desert Island and it was a great way to end our vacation. Friendly spot in Southwest Harbor. Definitely worth a stop as you tool around the island your car, as we were doing. The monster-size blueberry pie and ice cream really did the trick. You can travel down memory lane of the family that owns the place--like looking at someone's photo album in their living room--while scarfing down their blueberry pie.

Get the oatmeal Choc chip cookie and let them heat it up for you. Tastes like what grandma makes. My husband enjoyed a sundae for his birthday. We have a tradition of traveling on birthdays, but still try to get dessert with a candle. I asked an employee for a candle (that I was planning on quietly lighting and having my husband quietly make a wish) and, upon learning of the birthday, she said "give me that sundae!" & poured extra fudge on top before returning with a candle ridden sundae and a crew to sing happy birthday!

This was our favorite place on the entire island! The food was amazing. The lobster pizza and clam chowder were fantastic...seriously fantastic! The lobster roll, lobster stew, fish chowder, homemade blueberry pie, coconut macaroons, and assortment of ice cream were all very, very good too. We didn't eat all that in one sitting. Although we were staying in Bar Harbor, we made the drive down to Southwest Harbor twice. We will definitely go there again the next time we visit Mount Desert Island.

My wife and I ate dinner here one night, as many other venues were closed for dinner after 8pm. This place was rated quite well on both yelp and trip advisor, so we tried it out. It was around 8:30 and they didn't close until 10pm during the week, at least during the summer. I had the jamaican jerk chicken sandwich and my wife had the crab cakes, followed by a piece of blueberry pie. The jerk chicken sandwich pretty average for a sandwich, but had a pretty nice flavor to it. And it was moist, which was good. So, no complaints, but nothing overly exciting either. My wife really enjoyed the crab cakes though. She thought they were quite yummy! The huge disappointment was the blueberry pie. When noticing it on the countertop, it looked amazing. Blueberries were running over, there were so many. Much to my surprise though, when I went to eat it, it was almost flavorless. UGH! It was the least sweet pie I've ever had. It had no amount of sweetness to it at all. I almost wondered if it was a sugar-free pie, but there was no mention of that anywhere. So, that was very disappointing. I do have to say - the staff is very friendly. We met a very nice waitress from Europe. And the female co-owner, who seems to be there a lot, was very hospitable as she was always talking to and mingling the guests, the 2 times we frequented. We revisited the next night for the ice cream, since there seemed to always be long lines to get this stuff, any time we passed by on the street. I ordered the cone with the moose tracks ice cream. The cone wasn't very good. It was something I would have thought I could have bought at the grocery store, but the ice cream itself was pretty good. Certainly nowhere near the best ice cream I've had, but was still nice to have that new flavor. Moose tracks is like a vanilla base, with chocolate and peanut butter chunks in it, if I remember correctly. Anyway, nice staff, decent food, late hours. Nice place to stop by and get a snack. It's certainly not fine dining or anything extraordinary, food-wise, but you'll get good service and certainly, decent food there.

I've been here on two separate occasions and I'll mention the good and the bad. the good: the pies and other baked items are great here! we had the pleasure of trying the apple pie with vanilla ice cream and we all loved it even though we are not fans of apple pie. Their chowders are also delicious. the bad: the burgers here are not fresh, and they are not good at all. I could hardly eat a few bites. I suggest opting for a sandwich or seafood basket. On another note, I had the same waitress on both visits. The first time she was nice and the second time, she was quite rude. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it left a sour note. Overall, this is a good place to stop for a snack. Just avoid the burgers!

Stopped by here because my boyfriend wanted ice-cream and we had heard good things. He didn't mind the strawberry ice-cream, but their blueberry pie was the most awful pie I've ever had in my entire life. And I've had a lot of pies! The blueberries were far from ripe, the filling was bland, and the crust represented a texture similar to rubber (and I imagine a taste as well). It would have been fine had the girl ringing me up actually not charged me for the slice, after I had given it back to her with only one bite missing saying it was awful. I told her I didn't think it would be fair for me to pay, since it was so terrible I couldn't even stomach eating it. She refused and insisted that I paid. MORE THAN JUST ICE CREAM The menu is not large, but I found the hamburger to be really good--a handmade burger (not one of those pre-made frozen patties, which I was expecting) on a nice bun, with good fries and cole slaw. It was all made to order and reasonably priced: $7.95. Finish it off with some ice cream, of which there are many good flavors to choose from. Friendly service too.

it's confusing to know whether there is table service outside [there is]. we waited for a bit and then went inside to check. the man we assume to be the owner [who was eating at the counter] said yes, there was and we should go back outside. we resumed our seats outside. it took awhile but we attracted the attention of the waitress and ordered drinks and received menus. the waitress finally returned and we ordered. our drinks eventually came with our pizza, which was surprisingly good. i can't really fault the waitress as the operation seems to be lacking direction in general.

I got the grilled cheese and it came with chips and a pickle. I also ordered the fish chowder, which was not that good. I could only get down about half. The apple pie looked pretty amazing, but was just OK. My main problem with the place was the slow, slow service. I understand that it was busy and right before closing time, but it's still a small place so there's no reason anyone should be waiting so long to get their check. Slow service + mediocre food + flies buzzing around = go somewhere else.

Cool little friendly place. We had the greek pizza which was very good. We returned later during the week and I had France's key lime pie which was delicious, too bad theree was only 1 piece left! The owner told me that his wife, France, does one with a chocolate crust and that it is even better! All the desserts look yummy!

Good options for ice cream and cool treats on a hot day and the blueberry ice cream rings most at home for this part of the country; a must try. Stopped by here because my boyfriend wanted ice-cream and we had heard good things. He didn't mind the strawberry ice-cream, but their blueberry pie was the most awful pie I've ever had in my entire life. And I've had a lot of pies! The blueberries were far from ripe, the filling was bland, and the crust represented a texture similar to rubber (and I imagine a taste as well). It would have been fine had the girl ringing me up actually not charged me for the slice, after I had given it back to her with only one bite missing saying it was awful. I told her I didn't think it would be fair for me to pay, since it was so terrible I couldn't even stomach eating it. She refused and insisted that I paid. Unfortunately, the poor service topped the cake. I will never go here again, nor would I recommend it to anybody who is in the area.

We were staying at a local B&B across the street over Memorial Day weekend and were looking for something local, and the B&B owners recommended Quietside Cafe. It's a fantastic, family atmosphere place with a lot of food, pizza, chowder, ice cream, etc options. There was a family of five sharing a pizza, and locals in and out of the place. We ordered a "Loaded" Pizza which was great, as well as crab cakes which were also delicious. The blueberry pie was quintessential Maine blueberry pie. There were other pies on display and I'll be going back for more sometime soon.

Lobster pizza was a unique treat... But the lobster flavor itself was lost in the strong Italian spices. The warm, out of the oven, oatmeal cookie was dreamy and delicious with a scoop of Maine blueberry ice cream!

Friendly spot in Southwest Harbor. Definitely worth a stop as you tool around the island your car, as we were doing. The monster-size blueberry pie and ice cream really did the trick. You can travel down memory lane of the family that owns the place--like looking at someone's photo album in their living room--while scarfing down their blueberry pie.

Get the oatmeal Choc chip cookie and let them heat it up for you. Tastes like what grandma makes. My husband enjoyed a sundae for his birthday. We have a tradition of traveling on birthdays, but still try to get dessert with a candle. I asked an employee for a candle (that I was planning on quietly lighting and having my husband quietly make a wish) and, upon learning of the birthday, she said "give me that sundae!" & poured extra fudge on top before returning with a candle ridden sundae and a crew to sing happy birthday!

This was our favorite place on the entire island! The food was amazing. The lobster pizza and clam chowder were fantastic...seriously fantastic! The lobster roll, lobster stew, fish chowder, homemade blueberry pie, coconut macaroons, and assortment of ice cream were all very, very good too. We didn't eat all that in one sitting. Although we were staying in Bar Harbor, we made the drive down to Southwest Harbor twice. We will definitely go there again the next time we visit Mount Desert Island.

My wife and I ate dinner here one night, as many other venues were closed for dinner after 8pm. This place was rated quite well on both yelp and trip advisor, so we tried it out. It was around 8:30 and they didn't close until 10pm during the week, at least during the summer. I had the jamaican jerk chicken sandwich and my wife had the crab cakes, followed by a piece of blueberry pie. The jerk chicken sandwich pretty average for a sandwich, but had a pretty nice flavor to it. And it was moist, which was good. So, no complaints, but nothing overly exciting either. My wife really enjoyed the crab cakes though. She thought they were quite yummy! The huge disappointment was the blueberry pie. When noticing it on the countertop, it looked amazing. Blueberries were running over, there were so many. Much to my surprise though, when I went to eat it, it was almost flavorless. UGH! It was the least sweet pie I've ever had. It had no amount of sweetness to it at all. I almost wondered if it was a sugar-free pie, but there was no mention of that anywhere. So, that was very disappointing. I do have to say - the staff is very friendly. We met a very nice waitress from Europe. And the female co-owner, who seems to be there a lot, was very hospitable as she was always talking to and mingling the guests, the 2 times we frequented. We revisited the next night for the ice cream, since there seemed to always be long lines to get this stuff, any time we passed by on the street. I ordered the cone with the moose tracks ice cream. The cone wasn't very good. It was something I would have thought I could have bought at the grocery store, but the ice cream itself was pretty good. Certainly nowhere near the best ice cream I've had, but was still nice to have that new flavor. Moose tracks is like a vanilla base, with chocolate and peanut butter chunks in it, if I remember correctly. Anyway, nice staff, decent food, late hours. Nice place to stop by and get a snack. It's certainly not fine dining or anything extraordinary, food-wise, but you'll get good service and certainly, decent food there.

You come to Maine, you expect two things: great lobster and great blueberry pie. And the Serbian guy behind the counter really sold us on this great blueberry pie they had. We were really excited, so we got a slice to go (they're big slices). But the disappointment hit hard when we took the first (and last) bite: nothing about it was right - the dough was raw in places and it had no sweetness - not the berries and not the crust. Blueberries are not yet in season, so I imagine they has to use frozen or imported berries, but if fruit isn't sweet, you can always add a little sugar to sweeten it up and macerate them a bit. I hope this was just a fluke - maybe the pie was made by a new person, maybe they just forgot to add the sugar to the recipe, maybe they didn't bake it as long as they should have.

SW Harbor is what a quaint summer town should be like. Bar Harbor is a nightmare tourist trap, catering to day travelers and people getting off cruise ships. SW Harbor is more for people who spend their entire summers on MT Desert Island. Quietside is great. Nice menu. Great desserts. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. There are five picnic tables with table service to the right of the building. They allow dogs (dog friendly). We got the lobster pizza - strangely the only place on MT Desert Island I found that served it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest. The crust was pretty weak, and I am not sure they even have a pizza oven. It tasted more like pre-made oven baked. However, it was topped with tons of lobster drenched in butter. Strangely, it was called a white pizza but they added pizza sauce, and that detracted from it. I would have preferred it just be lobster, butter, garlic and cheese. Nevertheless, if you just ate the toppings, it was five stars. But as a pizza, I'd give it 3 stars and doubt I would get it again. The chowder tasted average. Big fresh chunks of fish but a little watery and flavorless. The sandwiches looked a bit slight. They were out of blueberry pie (which looked amazing when we saw them), but they had apple pie (with granola and caramel for the topping instead of crust). This was excellent. Unfortunately, they didn't heat it up enough for us. It seemed like they tried but didn't microwave it long enough (?) so the ice cream didn't really melt. Nevertheless, it was so good it didn't matter. Let's just say it was excellent, but if heated up, it could have been up there with best ever. Clearly baked fresh daily or baked nearby. All told, the food was good enough. The atmosphere of both the restaurant and the town were very nice, and the fact they were dog friendly put it over the top. If we lived in SW Harbor, this would be a very regular spot of ours - definitely for pie every night at least.

MDI basically shuts down all their shops after Columbus Day, so we had a hard time trying to find a place for dinner. Luckily, Quietside was still open. Outside, a sign boasts the "best pie in Maine." Challenge. Accepted. We popped in, and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and tomato and cheese, for lunch. It comes with your choice of bread, as well as a delightful pickle and chips. Very satisfying. Hubs got the current special -- popcorn shrimp with fries. He was also pleased. But of course, we were really there for the dessert. I got a slice of blueberry pie. You need only look at my pics to know how it was. (Go on; I'm waiting...) I also got a slice of key lime pie -- with chocolate crust. What?! These pies changed my pastry world, as I know it. Do as we did, and grab lunch to go, then eat by the Seawall and take in the gorgeous scenery.

My mom and I discovered this place on one of our trips to Maine a few years ago. The hot dogs there are delicious. The space feels like you're having lunch in someone's kitchen - it has that cozy Down East vibe that I love. The cool part is you can draw on a dollar bill (as long as it's appropriate of course) and hang it up. Mine says MAINEAC AT HEART. Also it wasn't crowded when we went there, which was nice. Check this place out when you're driving through Southwest Harbor. It's definitely worth the trip.

This is not to be confused with commercial overly sweet goop... but a fine, home-style, real Maine Blueberry Pie... combine it with a scoop of Vanilla and you will be savoring this combo, with tears in your eyes as you finish your last bite. [Thus enabling the consumption of TWO slices!?] And then there's the cookies.... as big as your head and wonderfully balanced... again not overly sweet, but packed with flavor. Great place-- Location puts it far enough away from the cruise ship terminal so you don't get all the (literally) boatloads of tourists. Staff are super friendly, especially the owners who made a point to say hello even though we were clearly visiting. Food was fantastic - I had the minestrone soup and my partner had the fish and chips. Fish and chips had a bit more breading than we normally like but was still tasty. Blueberry pie and ice cream were delicious. Price is on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of operation, but still competitive. Remember most all of these places are seasonal and only have a finite period of time to make all their money for the year!

Every little town in Maine seems to have its own shop with home-made ice cream and Southwest Harbor is no exception. My companion and I both enjoyed our ice cream choices, mine toasted coconut and hers "moose track" (vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter). I wished that they had a few more of the creative, unusual flavors of ice cream that one sees in some other shops. I kept eyeing the blueberry pie on the counter--locally made, unbelievably thick, and bursting with wild blueberries. It looked so good that I was tempted to have a piece, but I was in the mood for ice cream that day.

We stopped by twice this week, once for lunch and once for breakfast; note not open for breakfast so we had an early lunch. Had fish/chips, fish chowder, lobster stew, crab cakes and turkey melt. Fish chowder was generously full of haddock, but it need salt/pepper, paprika or Tabasco would have been better. Lobster stew was awesome, again full of lobster and a hint of heat; sheet would be a great touch too. Crab cakes were great, ask for more sauce! Fish/chips were awesome too! I was on Mount Desert Island last weekend, October 21, 2011, with my daughter and her friend. We had a long drive to get there, then hiked and I was very tired and hungry. We were staying at a local B&B and they said to go here for food. We ordered take out and I got a mushroom, pepperoni and onion pizza that was to die for. I've had hundreds of take out pizzas from all over and it came close to the BEST ever. The best pizza I had was from a place called Zino's in Cincinnati, OH. But it burned to the ground back in the 1980's and they never rebuilt. I would have bought the recipe for their sauce had I known they were not rebuilding. But I digress. If you LOVE pizza, you MUST come to the Quietside Cafe. The leftovers were eaten the next night. I heated them up with the hair dryer from the B&B. The pizza was still delicious. No hair got in it from the dryer in case you wondered.

Just spent 4 days in SWH, and 2 out f the four we ate at Quiet Side. We Loved it. And we're very happy to meet Frances the owner. She greeted us the first night with "joining us for supper?", I liked her immediately. My friend had the clam chowder and I had chili, with cheese and onions on top. Both were delicious BUT we took home with us 2 pieces of the blueberry pie. My My Blueberry Pie. It was made with the little Maine Blueberries and it was stuffed with them. The lobster rolls were lowered price for a reason. I mean, we were on Mt. Desert Island - I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a better lobster roll ANYWHERE else. While I was waiting for the food at the counter, the cookies, cakes, and pies did catch my attention. While ruffling through my wallet for some cash to get some cookies (had to try something), a little boy sat down and started coughing all over the uncovered, out-in-the-open baked goods. I put my money away. Then another little kid came up and had her hands all over the cookies - her parents told her to stop, but the cookies were put back and nothing was said. After that I felt weird about eating the food, but I was starving. Anyway, three stars because we wanted to support the local and I feel that's important - but that's about it.

Stopped in for ice cream for the kids. When I asked if they had kiddie size, she said, "we have small and large". Of course, I ordered the small. I later realized that they DO have kiddie size, so I have no idea what she was talking about. It was an extra $1 per ice cream, which wasn't very good.

I've been here on two separate occasions and I'll mention the good and the bad. the good: the pies and other baked items are great here! we had the pleasure of trying the apple pie with vanilla ice cream and we all loved it even though we are not fans of apple pie. Their chowders are also delicious. the bad: the burgers here are not fresh, and they are not good at all. I could hardly eat a few bites. I suggest opting for a sandwich or seafood basket. On another note, I had the same waitress on both visits. The first time she was nice and the second time, she was quite rude. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it left a sour note. Overall, this is a good place to stop for a snack. Just avoid the burgers!

it's confusing to know whether there is table service outside [there is]. we waited for a bit and then went inside to check. the man we assume to be the owner [who was eating at the counter] said yes, there was and we should go back outside. we resumed our seats outside. it took awhile but we attracted the attention of the waitress and ordered drinks and received menus. the waitress finally returned and we ordered. our drinks eventually came with our pizza, which was surprisingly good. i can't really fault the waitress as the operation seems to be lacking direction in general.

This little cafe in Southwest Harbor has a real family feel. It's not much to look at inside, but the food is really great. They're definitely known for their pies, which look fantastic. The slices of blueberry pie are huge, and definitely something to have a la mode! The do offer the usual food items: pizza, burgers, fries, sandwiches. I've had grilled cheese and found it to be satisfying. It's not expensive, either, so worth it if you're looking for a quick food fix in a friendly atmosphere.

Poor listening skills from the wait staff as they're just a tad incapable of multi-tasking (a much required skill here due to the high volume of walk in business). Good options for ice cream and cool treats on a hot day and the blueberry ice cream rings most at home for this part of the country; a must try. Cool little friendly place. We had the greek pizza which was very good. We returned later during the week and I had France's key lime pie which was delicious, too bad theree was only 1 piece left! The owner told me that his wife, France, does one with a chocolate crust and that it is even better! All the desserts look yummy!

Year in, year out, this place is fantastic! Whenever we're on the island, we head to Southwest Harbor to get our fill of Lobster Rolls, Seafood Pizza (sounds odd, but is actually very tasty) and ice-cream. It can be quite busy, but I think that's because it is so good. It's quite charming inside, which makes up for the fact that it's small and can get crowded. But they have picnic tables outside, and sometimes we even just order our food to go and take it with us. Frances and Ralph (owners) are usually there and couldn't be more friendly. Frances makes her pies daily. My favorite is the blueberry. Although recently she made a key lime pie with a chocolate crust. Sounds odd, but I loved it.

Lobster rolls were fresh and they used the whole lobster. The roll didn't have a lot of seasoning so all you tasted was fresh lobster and paprika. The clam chowder and cole slaw side were terrific. Brownie a la mode was yummy. Brownie was not too sweet and was 4 inches tall! Blueberry and rasberry flavored ice creams were delicious!

Awesome little place. This was our last stop on the way home out of Mount Desert Island and it was a great way to end our vacation. We had the fried scallops, lobster roll, Maine wild blueberry ice cream, and a piece of their apple pie. Everything was delicious, local and homemade (except maybe the ice cream, but it was delicious nonetheless). The ambience is bustling, casual, friendly and welcoming.

Went here with the kids and ended up having to finish two lobster rolls so they would not go to waste. Its a Great ice cream place with a nice family story but. " just say no" to the lobster rolls unless you like cold lobster salad-type rolls. The only lobster roll should be a naked lobster roll - fresh out of the shell warm lobster with melted butter... stick to the ice cream.

WE LOVE QUIETSIDE AND RALPH AND FRANCIS!!! we live in Florida and come up to SW Harbor every year and never miss a meal at least one time there. It is your old fashioned ice cream parlor and great comfort food with a twist. Francis makes a mean lobster chowder, incredible pizza and the most amazing blueberry pie. Don't miss it, the prices are great, it's down home Main'ah food from a very awesome family owned place.

Friendly spot in Southwest Harbor. Definitely worth a stop as you tool around the island your car, as we were doing. The monster-size blueberry pie and ice cream really did the trick. You can travel down memory lane of the family that owns the place--like looking at someone's photo album in their living room--while scarfing down their blueberry pie.

Get the oatmeal Choc chip cookie and let them heat it up for you. Tastes like what grandma makes. My husband enjoyed a sundae for his birthday. We have a tradition of traveling on birthdays, but still try to get dessert with a candle. I asked an employee for a candle (that I was planning on quietly lighting and having my husband quietly make a wish) and, upon learning of the birthday, she said "give me that sundae!" & poured extra fudge on top before returning with a candle ridden sundae and a crew to sing happy birthday!

This was our favorite place on the entire island! The food was amazing. The lobster pizza and clam chowder were fantastic...seriously fantastic! The lobster roll, lobster stew, fish chowder, homemade blueberry pie, coconut macaroons, and assortment of ice cream were all very, very good too. We didn't eat all that in one sitting. Although we were staying in Bar Harbor, we made the drive down to Southwest Harbor twice. We will definitely go there again the next time we visit Mount Desert Island.

This place completely redefined our definition of blueberry pie. We were in search of a place to eat dessert with the kids, and we stumbled upon this cozy little cafe. In the display, we saw the most delectable blueberry pie we had ever laid our eyes upon. It wasn't like the ones you buy in Whole Foods or Wegmans- it was a freshly baked shell filled with fresh blueberries. We had only wanted to eat desert there, but we ended up going there repeatedly during our stay in Acadia. Best desert during our stay!

My wife and I ate dinner here one night, as many other venues were closed for dinner after 8pm. This place was rated quite well on both yelp and trip advisor, so we tried it out. It was around 8:30 and they didn't close until 10pm during the week, at least during the summer. I had the jamaican jerk chicken sandwich and my wife had the crab cakes, followed by a piece of blueberry pie. The jerk chicken sandwich pretty average for a sandwich, but had a pretty nice flavor to it. And it was moist, which was good. So, no complaints, but nothing overly exciting either. My wife really enjoyed the crab cakes though. She thought they were quite yummy! The huge disappointment was the blueberry pie. When noticing it on the countertop, it looked amazing. Blueberries were running over, there were so many. Much to my surprise though, when I went to eat it, it was almost flavorless. UGH! It was the least sweet pie I've ever had. It had no amount of sweetness to it at all. I almost wondered if it was a sugar-free pie, but there was no mention of that anywhere. So, that was very disappointing. I do have to say - the staff is very friendly. We met a very nice waitress from Europe. And the female co-owner, who seems to be there a lot, was very hospitable as she was always talking to and mingling the guests, the 2 times we frequented. We revisited the next night for the ice cream, since there seemed to always be long lines to get this stuff, any time we passed by on the street. I ordered the cone with the moose tracks ice cream. The cone wasn't very good. It was something I would have thought I could have bought at the grocery store, but the ice cream itself was pretty good. Certainly nowhere near the best ice cream I've had, but was still nice to have that new flavor. Moose tracks is like a vanilla base, with chocolate and peanut butter chunks in it, if I remember correctly. Anyway, nice staff, decent food, late hours. Nice place to stop by and get a snack. It's certainly not fine dining or anything extraordinary, food-wise, but you'll get good service and certainly, decent food there.

Cute little diner near a lot of the shops in the town. We stopped in for macaroons. They were AMAZING. Very good size, large in fact. Tasted very fresh and delicious. I would try to get those things shipped to Chicago if I can.

You come to Maine, you expect two things: great lobster and great blueberry pie. And the Serbian guy behind the counter really sold us on this great blueberry pie they had. We were really excited, so we got a slice to go (they're big slices). But the disappointment hit hard when we took the first (and last) bite: nothing about it was right - the dough was raw in places and it had no sweetness - not the berries and not the crust. Blueberries are not yet in season, so I imagine they has to use frozen or imported berries, but if fruit isn't sweet, you can always add a little sugar to sweeten it up and macerate them a bit. I hope this was just a fluke - maybe the pie was made by a new person, maybe they just forgot to add the sugar to the recipe, maybe they didn't bake it as long as they should have.

SW Harbor is what a quaint summer town should be like. Bar Harbor is a nightmare tourist trap, catering to day travelers and people getting off cruise ships. SW Harbor is more for people who spend their entire summers on MT Desert Island. Quietside is great. Nice menu. Great desserts. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. There are five picnic tables with table service to the right of the building. They allow dogs (dog friendly). We got the lobster pizza - strangely the only place on MT Desert Island I found that served it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest. The crust was pretty weak, and I am not sure they even have a pizza oven. It tasted more like pre-made oven baked. However, it was topped with tons of lobster drenched in butter. Strangely, it was called a white pizza but they added pizza sauce, and that detracted from it. I would have preferred it just be lobster, butter, garlic and cheese. Nevertheless, if you just ate the toppings, it was five stars. But as a pizza, I'd give it 3 stars and doubt I would get it again. The chowder tasted average. Big fresh chunks of fish but a little watery and flavorless. The sandwiches looked a bit slight. They were out of blueberry pie (which looked amazing when we saw them), but they had apple pie (with granola and caramel for the topping instead of crust). This was excellent. Unfortunately, they didn't heat it up enough for us. It seemed like they tried but didn't microwave it long enough (?) so the ice cream didn't really melt. Nevertheless, it was so good it didn't matter. Let's just say it was excellent, but if heated up, it could have been up there with best ever. Clearly baked fresh daily or baked nearby. All told, the food was good enough. The atmosphere of both the restaurant and the town were very nice, and the fact they were dog friendly put it over the top. If we lived in SW Harbor, this would be a very regular spot of ours - definitely for pie every night at least.

We went to Quietside hoping for a good dessert pick me up after a bit a disappointment from Thurston's. I got a brownie a la mode, my girlfriend got the blueberry pie. The brownie was fine, if uninspired and the blueberry pie was good. Nice crust, good flavor. Staff was friendly.

We were driving around Mount Desert and wanted to get some dinner, but everything was shut down (we were there a few days before Halloween). MDI basically shuts down all their shops after Columbus Day, so we had a hard time trying to find a place for dinner. Luckily, Quietside was still open. We ordered lobster stew, lobster roll, and a slice of blueberry pie. We were very, very happy with the lobster stew. There was a ton of delicious, tasty lobster in a creamy broth. The highlight was the homemade blueberry pie. The sky-high slice was bursting with blueberries. If you ever happen to be on this side of the island, Make Quietside one of your destinations for delicious food!

Outside, a sign boasts the "best pie in Maine." Challenge. Accepted. We popped in, and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and tomato and cheese, for lunch. It comes with your choice of bread, as well as a delightful pickle and chips. Very satisfying. Hubs got the current special -- popcorn shrimp with fries. He was also pleased. But of course, we were really there for the dessert. I got a slice of blueberry pie. You need only look at my pics to know how it was. (Go on; I'm waiting...) I also got a slice of key lime pie -- with chocolate crust. What?! These pies changed my pastry world, as I know it. Do as we did, and grab lunch to go, then eat by the Seawall and take in the gorgeous scenery.

My mom and I discovered this place on one of our trips to Maine a few years ago. The hot dogs there are delicious. The space feels like you're having lunch in someone's kitchen - it has that cozy Down East vibe that I love. The cool part is you can draw on a dollar bill (as long as it's appropriate of course) and hang it up. Mine says MAINEAC AT HEART. Also it wasn't crowded when we went there, which was nice. Check this place out when you're driving through Southwest Harbor. It's definitely worth the trip.

Our favorite casual spot in Southwest Harbor! We visited our first night and got the lobster pizza and blueberry pie- both very very good. We returned almost every night of our weeklong stay for ice cream- the campfire s'mores is out of this world! Place is small but there's tables outside. Quick, to the point place to go. Walk in to the place...order your food...go sit down and they'll find you. We had fish and chips and 2 cups of ice cream. The Maine black bear flavor was super yummy. After reading Yelp I may have Togo back tonight and pick up pie a la mode or cookies :)
